Crypto Card ATM Withdrawal Fees and Limits: What You Pay and How Much You Can Take Out

Crypto card ATM withdrawal fees and limits: issuer fees, free allowances, daily caps and ATM operator charges, with figures from official card pages.

An ATM stands in a quiet airport lobby at night with rows of seats and large windows behind it.

Crypto card ATM withdrawals usually cost something on two sides: a fee from the card issuer, which may be waived up to a free monthly allowance, and a separate charge that the ATM’s owner can add. On top of that, every card in this guide sets a limit on how much cash you can take out, per day and in some cases per month, and sometimes how many withdrawals you can make. Both the fees and the limits vary widely between cards and between card tiers.

This guide explains each part, with real figures from issuers’ own fee pages as of October 2026, so you can work out what a cash withdrawal would actually cost you.

How an ATM Withdrawal With a Crypto Card Works

At the ATM, a crypto card behaves like any other Visa or Mastercard card. The machine dispenses local cash, and the amount is taken from your card balance or, for wallet-linked cards, from crypto converted at that moment.

The costs come from three places:

  1. The card issuer’s ATM fee, if any.
  2. The ATM owner’s surcharge, which the issuer does not control.
  3. Currency costs if the cash is in a different currency from your card, such as a foreign transaction fee or the conversion rate.

Issuer ATM Fees: Real Examples

Here is how four cards describe their own ATM fees.

Card Issuer’s ATM fee (as of October 2026, except Coinbase: agreement effective September 2022)
Crypto.com (US) Free up to a monthly allowance set by card tier, then 2% of the amount above the allowance
NORA CARD $3 + 1.00% per withdrawal
Coinbase (US) $0 issuer fee, per its cardholder agreement filed with the CFPB
MetaMask Metal Lists free ATM withdrawals as a metal card benefit, up to a monthly amount

A few notes on this table:

  • Crypto.com’s free monthly allowance on its US page runs from US$200 on the Midnight card to US$1,000 on the Icy, Rose and Obsidian cards.
  • NORA CARD figures come from the official site, as summarised on our NORA CARD page.
  • Coinbase’s cardholder agreement lists a $0 fee for ATM withdrawals, but notes that the ATM operator may charge a fee and that Coinbase currency conversion fees may apply under its separate wallet terms. The agreement on file with the CFPB has an effective date of September 2022, so check the current version before relying on it.
  • MetaMask’s card page lists free ATM withdrawals among the metal card’s benefits, with a footnote cap of up to $1,200 a month.

The ATM Owner’s Surcharge

The machine you use can charge its own fee, separate from your card. Coinbase’s cardholder agreement says plainly that the ATM’s operator can charge its own fee, including for checking your balance. Crypto.com’s US fee page notes that any surcharge from the ATM provider counts towards your ATM withdrawal limit.

Check the ATM screen for any operator fee before you confirm.

ATM Limits: Per Day, Per Month and Per Visit

Limits cap how much cash you can take out, whatever the fees. They often differ by card tier.

Card Daily ATM limit Monthly ATM limit Other limits
Crypto.com Midnight (US) US$500 US$5,000 3 withdrawals a day
Crypto.com Ruby (US) US$1,000 US$10,000 3 withdrawals a day
Crypto.com Indigo/Jade, Icy/Rose, Obsidian (US) US$2,000 US$10,000 3 withdrawals a day
NORA CARD $2,000 $60,000 —
MetaMask Virtual $1,000 — —
MetaMask Metal $5,000 — —
Coinbase (US) $1,000 per 24 hours — 3 ATM withdrawals a day (6 in total with over-the-counter)

All figures as of October 2026, except Coinbase, which comes from its cardholder agreement effective September 2022. A dash means the figure is not listed on the page reviewed.

Two things often catch people out:

  • Daily caps can stop a large withdrawal even when your balance is high.
  • Overall caps can also count ATM withdrawals. Crypto.com’s US page, for example, has an overall monthly withdrawal limit that includes purchases, ATM withdrawals and card-to-card transfers.

Withdrawing Cash Abroad

Taking out foreign cash adds currency costs. Crypto.com’s US page charges a 3% foreign transaction fee on non-USD purchases and ATM withdrawals for its Midnight, Ruby, Jade and Indigo cards, and none for Rose, Icy and Obsidian. NORA CARD lists a 2.00% foreign exchange fee. Coinbase’s agreement lists $0 for international ATM withdrawals but notes that ATM operators may still charge.

A Worked Example

Say you take out $300 in a month on Crypto.com’s US Midnight card, which has a free allowance of US$200, as of October 2026. The first $200 carries no issuer fee. The remaining $100 is charged at 2%, which is $2. If the ATM owner adds its own surcharge, that comes on top.

Now take the same $300 on NORA CARD in a single withdrawal. Its fee of $3 + 1.00% comes to $6. Split into three withdrawals of $100, the flat $3 part is charged three times, so the total would be $12. With a flat fee per withdrawal, fewer and larger withdrawals usually cost less.

How to Keep ATM Costs Down

  1. Check the free allowance on your card tier and plan withdrawals around it.
  2. Take out fewer, larger amounts if your card charges a flat fee per withdrawal, staying inside the daily limit.
  3. Read the ATM screen for the operator’s surcharge before you confirm.
  4. Pay by card where you can instead of using cash, especially abroad.
  5. Compare cards for your own pattern of use. Our guide to crypto card fees lists the other charges to add up.

You can compare how cards describe their limits on our crypto cards list.

Questions and Answers

Why was I charged when my card says ATM withdrawals are free? The ATM owner may have added its own surcharge, or you may have gone over your card’s free monthly allowance.

Can I withdraw cash in any country? Only where the card’s network is accepted at ATMs and the card is allowed to be used. Check your issuer’s terms and any restricted countries.

Do ATM limits reset every day? Daily limits generally reset each day and monthly limits each month. Crypto.com’s US page, for example, says its ATM and other calendar limits reset at 00:00 EST, with monthly limits resetting on the first of each month; its top-up limits reset on a rolling basis instead.
